Grandmother Cottonwood Botanically Dyed Silk Scarf

USD 68.00Precio

This piece holds a deep reverence for the Grandmother and Grandfather Cottonwoods in the Bosques of the Southwest

You may have heard the tragic news that the last of the Grandmother Cottonwoods in Lochiel, AZ was killed and cut down earlier this month to build a ridiculous wall on an imaginary line after a 71 day tree-sit protest of environmental activists to preserve the last of its kind

Those who continue to exploit, abuse and harm Mother Earth will reap what they sow - for their unconscious action does not go unseen amongst the wise Elder councils of Mother Earth

A one-of-a-kind botanically dyed silk scarf, dyed in Mulberry leaf, Burr Oak acorns, assorted plant pressings (including Datura, ferns etc.) and Turmeric. This piece is a work of art, derived from the beauty of Grandmother Cottonwood’s wisdom. Wear it as a reminder that relationship with nature is essential to your well-being.

The process began with a bath of burr oak acorns which provide the golden champagne color of the background.

Next, we bundled and dyed with Mulberry Leaf extract, followed by a steam rolling of plant pressings including Datura, Ferns and Cottonwood Leaves.

The final stage of dyeing was pinches of Turmeric powder to emanate the yellowing of leaves in Autumn.

Naturally dyed with Mulberry Leaf + Wild-foraged Burr Oak Acorns + Turmeric and wild-foraged plant pressings including Datura, ferns and Cottonwood (Poplar) Leaves from ancient Cottonwoods in the Bosque in New Mexico.
